1943 Maria Muldaur, US Singer, songwriter, (1974 US No.6 & UK No.21 single 'Midnight At The Oasis').

1944 Barry White, soul singer & producer. (1974 UK No.1 single 'You're The First The Last My Everything', 1974 US No.1 single 'Can't Get Enough Of Your Love Babe'). Died from Kidney failure on 4th July 2003 aged 58.

1944 Colin Young, The Foundations, (1967 UK No.1 single 'Baby Now That I've Found You'. 1969 US No.3 single 'Build Me Up A Buttercup').

1952 Gerry Beckley, America (1972 US No.1 & UK No.3 single 'Horse With No Name').

1952 Neil Peart, drummer, Rush, (1980 UK No.13 single 'Spirit Of Radio' 1982 US No. 21 single 'New World Man'). Peart was made an Officer of the Order of Canada on May 9, 1996. The trio was the first rock band to be so honored, as a group.

1956 Barry Andrews, XTC, (1982 UK No.10 single 'Senses Working Overtime').

1956 Brian Robertson, guitar, Thin Lizzy, (1973 UK No.6 single 'Whisky In The Jar'), Member of Motorhead.

1957 Pat Dinizio, The Smithereens, (1988 US No.41 album 'Smithereens 11).

1981 Jennifer Hudson, Academy Award-winning American actress and singer. One of the finalists on the third season of American Idol, she went on to star as Effie White in the 2006 motion picture musical Dreamgirls.

1997 Abba's producer Stig Anderson died of a heart attack.

2003 Johnny Cash, US singer songwriter died of respiratory failure aged 71. Had the 1969 US No.2 & UK No.4 single 'A Boy Named Sue', plus 11 other US Top 40 singles. Cash also had his own US TV show in late 60's early 70's.

2004 Drummer Kenny Buttrey died in Nashville. Worked with Neil Young, Area Code 615, Barefoot Jerry, Bob Dylan and Jimmy Buffett.

2004 Tim McGraw went to No.1 on the US album chart with 'Live Like You Were Dying.'

2006 Britney Spears gave birth to a second baby boy at a hospital in Los Angeles.

2006 Jamiroquai singer Jay Kay was arrested and cautioned for common assault following an altercation with a photographer after an incident outside a London nightclub.

2007 The surviving members of Led Zeppelin announced they would reform for a star-studded tribute concert in London. Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones would play at a show to remember the late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun. The place of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, who died in 1980, would be taken by his son Jason. The one-off concert, the trio's first performance for 19 years, would take place at the O2 arena in London on 26th November with tickets costing Ł125. All profits from the show would go towards scholarships in Ertegun's name in UK, the USA and Turkey, the country of his birth.
