1905 Bob Wills is born in Kosse, Texas. With his Texas Playboys, he turned western swing into a national phenomenon during the '30s and '40s.

1936 Sylvia Robinson born in New York. She recorded the "Love Is Strange" with guitarist Mickey Baker, she had a solo hit with "Pillow Talk." Robinson also started Sugarhill Records, home to rap acts such as the Sugar Hill Gang and Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five.

1939 Jerry Naylor, a member of Buddy Holly & the Crickets born in Stephenville, Texas.

1944 Mary Wilson of the Supremes is born in Greenville, Miss.

1945 Hugh Grundy, drummer with the Zombies is born in Winchester, England.

1946 Eagles founding member Randy Meisner born.

1946 David Gilmour of Pink Floyd is born.

1946 Tony Klatka, who played trumpet with Blood, Sweat & Tears, is born.
