1970 Four students at Kent University were killed and eleven wounded by National Guard troops at a campus demonstration protesting the escalation of the Vietnam War. The incident inspired Neil Young to compose 'Ohio' which became a hit for Crosby Stills Nash & Young.
1987 Paul Butterfield died of complications of a drug overdose at the age of 44.
1992 Dudu Mntowaziwayo Ndlovu (Dudu Zulu), a band member of Johnny Clegg & Savuka, died of a gunshot wound in Zululand, South Africa, at the age of 33.
2004 Clement Seymour Dodd died aged 72. Producer and major force in reggae music, made the first recordings of Bob Marley.
