1945 Howard Kaylan, known as Eddie of Flo & Eddie and vocalist for the Turtles and Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention, is born in New York, NY.
1948 The ever innovative Todd Rundgren is born in Upper Darby, PA. Rundgren sang and played guitar for Utopia before embarking on a solo career. He is also know for producing records for artists as diverse as Badfinger, Meat Loaf, Grand Funk Railroad, the New York Dolls and XTC.
Deaths
1988 Jesse Ed Davis, perhaps the most versatile session guitarist of the late '60s and early '70s (having worked with the likes of Eric Clapton, Taj Mahal, Neil Diamond, John Lennon and John Lee Hooker, among others), dies in Venice, CA of an apparent overdose. Davis can be seen backing Taj Mahal in the Rolling Stones' "Rock 'n' Roll Circus."
